I will first describe what creative writing is, and its advantages both for students and for teachers. These include significant gains in most language skills areas (not only writing), greater sensitivity to language use, enhanced motivation, growth of self-awareness, self-esteem and confidence, development of a discovery orientation to learning and increased awareness and observation.
